When your schedule is packed, transcribing a 100-utterance language sample just isn't happening.

A practical shortcut is pulling a targeted 30-to-50 utterance sample during a single, focused activity. An open-ended picture description or quick story retell works best. You still capture grammatical markers, complex syntax, and mazing, but transcription only takes about five minutes.

A shorter sample is still clinically valuable if your analysis is accurate.

Inside SLP Draft, you can enter your language sample directly into the MLU calculator tab. It generates deterministic, per-utterance morpheme counts that you can review and adjust line by line, so you know exactly where every number comes from.
